It's a challenge for Australia to break new ground.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a team that has won it all.

That it took up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the bowlers that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It is hard for their batsmen to maintain a record if not afforded the chance.

Finally, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy getting a platform to produce her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has witnessed all through 15 championship-filled years since.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not come up short.

Whether this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Some will argue the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Some might respond with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was far harder to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it has been a disappointing period because it seemed I've had no rhythm completely," stated Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your competitive instincts kick in and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the young fast bowler in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's motivation.

These statements will be the final thing rival teams at this tournament want to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will triumph from any situation has grown stronger - this victory coming after success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.
