Starting Positions

There are only 16 cars on the grid. This followed another poor grid-setting session for Lewis Hamilton: following his result of 20th and last in Las Vegas, resulting in an eighth-place finish in the main race, he did not manage to advance of the first qualifying segment once more on the previous day. The team have as a result adjusted to his car configuration and so he will start from the starting area.

Aston Martin's Lance Stroll and the Alpine duo of Gasly and Franco Colapinto are all doing likewise.

Constructors' Championship

The focus isn't solely on the individual championship: The team have dominated the team championship but the team, with a 40-point lead over their rivals, will be hoping to seal second place during this event. Alright, just over twenty minutes remaining until the short race gets under way. Unless something goes wrong, it's greatest value is as a preview of future events, instead of significant in its itself, with just eight championship points available to the winner. Mind you, the runner-up spot here was enough for the driver to claim the title in a prior season.
