Lando Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has beaten his teammate at all of the past five grands prix.
Lando Norris narrowly beat team-mate and title rival the Australian for the quickest lap in the dying seconds of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the points lead from Piastri by just one point after taking the win in Mexico City a fortnight back, topped the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Before then, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before sprint qualifying due at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in realistic title contention, trailing 36 points Norris, finished in P17 as his team followed a alternative strategy.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, if briefly, when he spun at Turn Four early in the session.
Tsunoda spun out over the track edges before rotating through the gravel trap, and was fortunate to get away with just a minor contact of the wall.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the conclusion of the session, rotating twice through the quick descending corner leading to the last turn on to the main straight.
Hamilton finished practice in P19, trailing teammate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's car P3, over half a second behind the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
